My name is Md. Kamrul Islam, and I come from Bhola, a remote island district in the southern region of Bangladesh. I grew up in this area, surrounded by rivers and the sea, where natural disasters were a part of life. From the humble people and environment of this island, I learned the values of resilience and humanity. I will forever remain indebted to this region.
In 2016, I completed my B.Sc. in Computer Science & Engineering from a private university in Bangladesh. After working for a year as a software engineer, I decided to pursue more advanced technological learning opportunities and came to Japan.
To work in Japan, knowledge of the Japanese language and culture is essential. So I studied Japanese for 6 months and came to Japan in 2018 on a student visa.
After completing one year of Japanese language study, I started working at a Japanese software company. I initially worked as a web application engineer and later as a bridge engineer. That company had a major plan to introduce Bangladeshi skilled workers to Japan under the SSW (Specified Skilled Worker) visa, a project I was directly involved in.
That was the beginning of my dream.
I realized that there are many skilled, hardworking, and passionate youths in Bangladesh, but they lack opportunities to showcase their talents internationally. So I started offering free Japanese language lessons and later began teaching thousands of students through YouTube, receiving excellent response and encouragement.
This led to the creation of “ISLAND ACADEMY.”
On January 1, 2022, I founded Island Academy, a Japanese language school, in my hometown of Bhola—the largest island district in Bangladesh. It is the first Japanese language center in that region. So far, I have successfully helped 40+ students come to Japan on student visas and another 10+ through other types of visas.
I have also expanded Island Academy with branches in Barisal, Charfashion, Patuakhali, Naogaon, and Dhaka, receiving excellent response from students across Bangladesh.
There are many similarities between Bhola and Japan:
– Both are island regions surrounded by water
– Both are prone to natural disasters
– In both, people work hard to survive and improve their lives
One of the greatest lessons I learned in Japan is:
“Work not just for yourself, but for society.”
I want to create opportunities for skilled Bangladeshi youths to work and build better futures in Japan.
Especially in the caregiving sector, many young people in Bangladesh are motivated and full of potential. I am now building a systematic training and job introduction environment for them.

私はモハンマド・カムルル・イスラムと申します。バングラデシュ南部の離島であるボラ県の出身です。私の幼少期と学生時代は、川と海に囲まれ、自然災害の多いこの地域で育ちました。この地域の素朴な人々と環境から、私は「努力」と「人間性」の価値を学び、生涯この地域に恩を感じています。
2016年にバングラデシュの私立大学でコンピューターサイエンス＆エンジニアリングの学士号を取得し、1年間ソフトウェアエンジニアとして働きました。その後、より高度な技術を学ぶために日本に来ることを決意しました。
しかし、日本で働くには日本語と文化の理解が不可欠だと感じ、6ヶ月間日本語を学んだ後、2018年に留学ビザで来日しました。
1年間日本語を学んだ後、私は最初の仕事として日本のソフトウェア会社に入社しました。最初はWebアプリケーションエンジニアとして、後にブリッジエンジニアとして働きました。この会社には、バングラデシュからSSW（特定技能）ビザで人材を受け入れる大きな計画があり、私もそのプロジェクトに深く関わっていました。
この経験を通じて、私の夢が始まりました。
バングラデシュにはスキルがあり、真面目で意欲のある若者がたくさんいますが、彼らの能力を国際的な舞台で発揮する機会が不足しています。そこで、私は無料で日本語を教える活動を始め、YouTubeを通じて何千人もの学生に日本語を教え、多くの反響を得ました。
そして生まれたのが『ISLAND ACADEMY』です。
2022年1月1日、私は生まれ故郷のボラに日本語学校「Island Academy」を設立しました。これは、バングラデシュ最大の島であるボラで初の日本語教育センターです。これまでに40人以上の学生を留学ビザで、10人以上を他のビザで日本に紹介することができました。
また、バリサル、チョルファション、パトゥアカリ、ナオガ、そして首都ダッカにも分校を設立し、多くの学生から支持を得ています。
ボラと日本には多くの共通点があります：
– どちらも島で水に囲まれている
– 自然災害が多い地域
– 人々は勤勉で、生活のために常に努力している
日本に来て私が学んだ最も大切なことは：
「自分のためではなく、社会のために働くこと」です。
私は、バングラデシュの優秀な若者たちが日本で働き、より良い未来を築く機会を得られるよう支援したいと思っています。特に介護分野に興味と可能性のある若者たちに対して、体系的な日本語教育と就職サポートを提供する体制を整えています。
